The Liatris String Quartet grew out of a shared love of chamber music and the particular joy of making it with people you admire. Bringing together violinists Zsolt Eder and Filip Lazovski, violist Ashley Stanfield, and cellist Daniel Ketter, Liatris is made up of four musicians whose paths have crossed throughout Kansas City’s musical community as performers, colleagues, and teachers.

Each member brings a different musical perspective to the quartet, shaped by careers that have taken them across the United States and around the world. Together, they share a curiosity that reaches from the great works of the string quartet repertoire to music being written today, and a belief that the best performances are built on trust, generosity, spontaneity, and genuine musical conversation.

Based in Kansas City, Liatris is especially interested in creating concerts that feel personal and welcoming—where the distance between performer and audience becomes a little smaller and listeners are invited into the music rather than simply asked to observe it. Through concerts, collaborations, education, and community partnerships, the quartet hopes to build something lasting in the city they call home while continuing to explore the extraordinary possibilities of four musicians playing together.
